Ace producer Sajid Nadiadwala’s comedy caper Housefull 3 starring Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri and Lisa Haydon has hit the theatres today. Sajjid – Farhad have co written and directed the third version in the Housefull franchise.
Housefull 3 begins with a diamond robbery in a museum in London. Then we are introduced to Batook Patel (Boman Irani) who considers himself the lucky papa of London. Batook is blessed with three daughters – Ganga Patel (Jacqueline Fernandes), Jamuna Patel (Lisa Haydon) and Saraswati Patel (Nargis Fakhri). Ganga is a M.D. in psychoanalysis, Jamuna is a wax statue maker and Saraswati is into charity and serving the physically challenged ones.
Batook has a very strange condition and that being his daughters should not get married. All the three daughters act extremely traditional and nice in front of him and in his absence they shed the ‘Bharatiya Nari’ image and are happy in their diva mode. Ganga, Jamuna and Saraswati are in love with three laid back duds who are behind them only for their money. Sandy (Akshay Kumar), Bunty (Abhishek Bachchan) and Teddy (Ritesh Deshmukh) are the three lucky charmers. They make a plan to convince the girls to get married to them with a motive to grab their money.
Then a dreaded underworld Don Urja Nagre (Jackie Shroff) enters their lives with a secret mission. The rest of the story goes in this confusion and comedy of errors of Batook’s stubbornness in not getting the girls married the Don’s secret mission and the boys succeeding in getting married to their girlfriends.
Housefull and Housefull 2 doubled and tripled the expectations of the third version. Even though the first two versions were equally nonsensical and illogical they gained commercial success and good feedback from the audience. Housefull 3 despite having an interesting star cast fails to do wonders.
Couple of humorous one liners here and there keep the audience engaged but overall plot of the film is not entertaining at all. Housefull 3 tries to pick pace at the end and sprinkle some laughs here and there.
Akki and Ritesh continue their charm and they feel quiet at home. The comic scenes, punches and one liners are hilarious. Abhishek Bachchan – the new entrant to the series also performs well. Coming to the ladies – Jacqueline, Nargis and Lisa are just glam dolls in the film.
The previous two versions music also was a big hit but this one fails to impress in that aspect too. One or two tracks like 'Pyaar ' and 'Thaang Utha ke' are trending but not so impressive.
Overall Housefull 3 is a typical mass masala entertainer with humorous one liners here and there.
