The Shah Rukh Starrer Zero which is scheduled to hit screens on December 21 has landed up in a controversy. The General Secretary of Dehi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee  Manjider Singh lodged a police complaint against Shahrukh Khan accusing him and makers of Zero of hurting religious sentiments of the Sikh community through the recent poster, of Zero which was released on November 2nd.  In the poster, Shahrukh Khan can be seen wearing a 'kirpan' (small sword), As per the Sikh Rehat Maryada, only an Amritdhari Sikh can wear gatra kirpan.

The makers of Zero moved to the Bombay High Court where the senior counsel, appearing for Shah Rukh Khan and producer Gauri Khan and Aanand L Rai told the court that the lead actor is not kirpan but holding an ordinary sword. The court wanted to know if the film was granted certification from CBFC, to this the CBFC counsel had stated that the certification was still pending. He further told the court that the poster in question was not part of the trailer submitted by the film-makers while seeking certification.
