TE3N Movie review
Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer TE3N hit the theatres today. Ribhu Dasgupta is the director of TE3N and Sujoy Ghosh, Gulab Singh Tanwar, Hyunwoo Thomas Kim, Suresh Nair, Sameer Rajendran and Gauri Sathe have co-produced the film.
John Roy (Amitabh Bachchan) loses his granddaughter Angela Roy. He decides to find who kidnapped and brutally murdered his granddaughter. He goes and meets police officer Sarita Sarkar (Vidya Balan)along with Inspector Martin (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). The race of finding mysteries and searching for clues to track the killers begins.
The story is narrated with interception of past and present scenarios. After investigating the case thoroughly the police department gives up on the case and closes it completely. John is devastated with this and promises his wife that he will solve this one day and trace down the murderers who killed their granddaughter.
After 8 years a very strange incident happens in the city. Another 8 year old gets kidnapped in the exact manner how Angela got. That’s when the TE3N – John Roy, Martin and Sarita Sarkar join hands again to solve the mystery. The rest of the story forms in how the three musketeers succeed in this mission.
Thrillers have become the new trend in Bollywood. The makers wanted to continue the legacy of Kahaani success but failed to do so. The film has an interesting plot and three power packed performers but the screenplay doesn’t support them. The pace of the film is quite slow and the way the past and present scenes in the story are weaved leaves the audience in utter confusion.
Coming from a powerful production house and roping in three biggest talented stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vidya Balan – TE3N had huge expectations on it.
But unfortunately the film doesn’t live up to the expectations of the audience. Clinton Cerejo’s soothing music and background score gives some relief to the audience from the haywire plot.
Tushar Kanti Ray does a good job in captivating some intriguing visuals and solving mysteries through his lens but he is not supported by Garik Sarkar’s editing. The film would have perceived in altogether different if it was edited in another way.
Overall TE3N is a disappointing crime thriller with wasted TE3N star performances.
