2020 has for the most part been a grief-stricken year for people around the world as a result of the coronavirus pandemic crisis. Apart from the COVID-19 outbreak, including natural disasters and man-made calamities around the globe, several notable personalities from the world of entertainment passed away this year, leaving many in a state of deep sorrow. Some top celebrities deaths that shocked fans include Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput, Tamil comedian Vadivel Balaji and most recently iconic six-time National Award-winning singer SP Balasubrahmanyam. 

As fans are yet to come to terms with the demise of these celebrated performers, the news of the death of popular Hindi and Bengali actress Mishti Mukherjee has come as a shocker for many around the country. The 27-year-old actress had died in a hospital in Bengaluru on Friday after her kidney failed owing to the keto diet she had adopted a while back. She is survived by her parents and brother and her last rites were performed on Saturday. 

Mishti's death has come as a wake up call for many youngsters who have been following new diets in order to reduce their weight without proper medical guidance and supervision. The keto diet is said to comprise feeding the body with 75 percent fat, 20 percent protein and 5 percent carbohydrates. Although the diet has proven to be effective for some, people have been advised to consult a physician or a doctor to properly understand its pros and cons in order to avoid any issues and side effects to the body. 

The late actress' family released a statement that is as follows: "Actress Mishti Mukherjee who marked her brilliance in many films and music videos with her ace acting is no more. Due to keto diet, her kidney failed in Bangalore and she breathed her last on Friday night,the actress suffered a lot of pain. Unforgettable and unfortunate loss. May her soul rest in peace. She is survived by her parents and brother."

Having made her acting debut in the 2012 Hindi film, Life Ki Toh lag Gayi, Mishti Mukherjee has since featured in a few Bengali and Telugu movies as well. Popular Bollywood actress Kashmera Shah paid her respects to Mishti and offered her condolences to her family on her Twitter page tweeting, "Gone too soon too young RIP Mishti Mukherjee"
