Luck By Chance: Music review

When Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Javed Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar come together,a chartbuster is guaranteed. They have delivered hits like Dil Chahta Hai, Lakshya, Don – The Chase Begins Again and Rock On. So, expectations soar highfor Luck By Chance also. With added spice on account of director Zoha Akhtar, the comboit was believed would work their magic on the audience again.

The albumcomes withseven songs. Baawre, the first number, is a meeting ofwestern and folk flavours, a fusion track. In Baawre, the rustic essence of a folk tune is presented with a western style. The remix of Baawre is full on tempo, the kind of music a DJ would love to play.

O Raahi Re, a vintage Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, is a slow moving number (sung by Shankar) which discusses life and its varied paths at a steady pace. As abackground number, O Raahi Re will add poignancy to the narrative.

Next in the album is Sapnon Se Bhare Naina a background piecethat ruminates at length on the journey of the protagonist. After the pondering and questioning of Sapnon Se Bhare Naina, comes Yeh Aaj Kya Ho Gaya, a song that breezes with happiness and pleasure. The finalsongis Yeh Zindagi Bhi, which flows with the mood and flavour of the album, making no unwanted deviations or innovations.

As always, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have experimented and rendered a unique album – way ahead and miles away from the chartbusters of 2008. However, onlytime will tell if this uniqueness has the potential torule the music zone ofmass audiences. Let's hope for the best!
