Deepika Padukone's recent flick Chhapaak released on January 10th worldwide and the movie received positive reviews from critics. Chhapaak gained more attention after Deepika Padukone visited students who were brutalised during the 2020 JNU Attack, a political act, which led to a divided response on Twitter. The drama film directed by Meghna Gulzar is produced by Deepika Padukone herself in collaboration with Fox Star Studios. The movie features Vikrant Massey, Madhurjeet Sarghi, Anand Tiwari, Vaibhavi Upadhyaya and Payal Nair in important roles as well. The story of Chhapaak is based on the real-life story of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal and Deepika Padukone has played as an acid attack survivor in the movie.
