The new joint venture between Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor will see actors Emraan Hashmi and Deepika Padukone pairing up. The duo are going to be seen on screen for the first time. Emraan was slotted to play the role of the male protagonist in the film, right from the beginning itself. It is said that initially, the female lead was to be played by Kareena but due to some undisclosed reasons she was replaced by Deepika.

Emraan Hashmi, who recently won accolades for his role as Jogi Parmar in Shanghai, seems to be proving his detractor wrong with his performances and has finally broken away from the serial kisser tag. Deepika Padukone, the dimpled lass, whose next release Cocktail is around the corner for release, says she is quite impressed with Emraan and feels it would be an honour to work with him. She was excited to take up the role because it has got many shades. She is said have given her nod to play the role before moving to Turkey to shoot for Race 2.

The script of this movie is said to have a huge dose of urban love and is expected to be edgy, unusual and dramatic. The film would be directed by Akshay Roy, a debutant director. The film is expected to go on floors by the end of 2012.
