Bittoo Boss may have been shown a red flag by the Censor board but the film's first promo has won audience attention in a big way. With YouTube already registering over 1.5 lakh views of the film's 'uncensored promo', the 'ban' - as imposed by the Censors - has in fact further helped Bittoo Boss. However, the makers are not just relying on the controversy doing the trick. They have gone ahead and cut a new promo which is supposedly not as risqué as the original and is far more 'family friendly'.

"Bittoo Boss promotion has started on a good note and despite the film starring newcomers like Pulkit Samrat and Amita Pathak, it has managed to generate buzz. However, the makers don't want to be on the wrong side of the Censor board. They understand that the film to have a smooth run during the promotion and manage a good release, they would have to abide by Censor board's rules and regulations. This is the reason why a new promo has been designed," informs a senior member from the film's production team.

Though Censor board had apparently put a blanket ban on the film's promo due to extensive usage of 'le le' and other slangs, producer Abhishek Pathak - who debuted with cult comedy Pyaar Ka Punchnama last year - has gone ahead and tailored the same promo. While the basic context of the promo which establishes lead protagonist 'Bittoo' as the V.D.O. shooter remains intact, 'le le' etc. are being heard lesser than before. Also, since the slang is in the context of 'taking a picture', the reference is far better established also.

"Moreover the song 'Bittoo Sab Ki Lega', which plays in the background, has been toned down as well. The words have been changed to 'Hasa Hasa Ke Lega, Nacha Nacha Ke Lega' from 'Utha Utha Ke Lega, Jhuka Jhuka Ke Lega', adds Kumar Mangat Pathak, "We have done what we felt was appropriate. Now the ball is in Censor board's court."

As for the change being made, first time director Supavitra Babul was reluctant to begin with as he felt that far more 'fun-n-naughty' elements had been passed by the Censor Board in the past, case in point being Delhi Belly. However, he too has eventually agreed and is hopeful of the decision going in their favour.

He says, "It's okay, we want a smooth release for the film. If someone out there feels that a word or two is offensive, I am okay with that as long as the essence of the scene doesn't change. The new promo has been submitted to the Censor Board. We should hear back from them by this week."
