Alia Bhatt shot to success with her performance in Imtiaz Ali’s Highway.

While we all are still going ga-ga over how this Student Of The Year debutante managed to pull up such a brilliant act, filmmaker Karan Johar reveals that it was he who requested Imtiaz to cast her in the film.

“When I had told him about Alia and requested him to take her in his film, he was not at all sure about her acting prowess after 'Student of the Year'. But I had assured him that she has the capacity to be the lead for his film," he said.

Well, guess this really helped Alia come out of her shell.
