This period action movie, based on the life of Tanaji Malusare - Chhatrapati Shivaji's military leader, stars Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan and Kajol in the lead. Ajay Devgn has thanked the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath, for providing tax exemption to Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, in the state. Ajay also mentioned that he would be delighted if the CM watched the movie. Despite getting highly positive reviews for the performances, music and filmmaking, the over stressing of right-wing ideologies in the movie were slammed by reviewers. Some critics even mentioned that there was too much "saffronisation" in the movie, which seemed to have been done to exploit the current political climate in India.
