Chennai: The novel Coronavirus - now referred to as COVID-19 has begun to show its presence in India after nearly 25 people tested positive within 3 days.

Of those who tested positive and were taken into quarantine, 16 people are Italians who were on vacation at Jaipur in Rajasthan. After an elderly Italian male showed symptoms and was tested, his wife and 14 other travelers from his country also tested positive. The driver who traveled with them has also tested positive. They have been sent to Indo-Tibetan Border Police's (ITBP) quarantine facility in Chhawla. Meanwhile, the 6 relatives of the Noida man who had tested positive, also reportedly have been affected by the pandemic. The patient had attended a birthday party at the Hyatt Regency last Friday and the children who had attended it have been screened. The school, which has been fumigated, will remain closed till Friday. Hyatt Regency has asked all employees who were present that day to self-quarantine for two weeks.

An entire building in a tech complex was evacuated on Wednesday after one employee at the Raheja Mindspace came down with Corona. Five more people, who reportedly were symptomatic, have been admitted to a hospital in Bengaluru. The first three patients who were quarantined in Kerala, however, have recovered. Coronavirus has now spread to over 70 countries, killing around 3,000 people and infecting 90,000 since it was first detected in China in December 2019.
