The entire world is waiting with bated breath to know when they would be getting an effective vaccine against the deadly COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus. Though Russia has registered 2 vaccines for the Corona Virus, the larger medical fraternity is yet to accept them, as they have not yet undergone the mandatory Phase 3 trials. This holds similar for the Chinese COVID vaccine developed by Sinopharm too. Russian President Vladimir Putin endorsed the Sputnik V vaccine by revealing that one of his two daughters had also been inoculated by it. Now, it looks like some top leaders of UAE feel safe enough with a vaccine candidate developed by China! The Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates & even the ruler of Dubai, have received a dose of a corona virus vaccine candidate.

The ruler of Dubai - Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, took to his Twitter handle to share this news, along with a photo of himself being administered the vaccine shot. His post read, "While receiving the Covid-19 vaccine today. We wish everyone safety and great health, and we are proud of our teams who have worked relentlessly to make the vaccine available in the UAE. The future will always be better in the UAE." Media reports state that the vaccine administered to these top leaders, is a candidate developed by the Chinese company Sinopharm. Earlier, many Emirati officials like the Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and the Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Saif bin Al-Nahyan, had also been administered shots of this experimental vaccine candidate.

There seems to be a very strong belief in this vaccine candidate developed by Sinopharm, among the leaders of the Middle East. Earlier this year in September, Bahrain's Crown Prince Salman had taken part in the Phase 3 trials of this vaccine candidate. Just last month, the UAE had authorised the emergency use of the Sinopharm COVID vaccine candidate, in a measure to protect health workers and for the safety of those who work in the frontlines. This vaccine candidate is being jointly developed by Sinopharm's China National Biotec Group (CNBG) and Group 42 (G42) - an artificial intelligence and cloud computing company, based in Abu Dhabi. Just yesterday, Bahrain has also approved the emergency use of this Sinopharm vaccine candidate, to help frontline workers!
