The Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings team will be looking to get past their defeat to Mumbai Indians in last year's final when they take on the champions in the first match of IPL 2020. CSK, which has so far won the tournament on three previous occasions, will want to equalize the record of Mumbai Indians' four championship wins. IPL 2020 will be played across three venues in the UAE at Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Dubai, with the championship final scheduled to be held on November 10.
CSK fans everywhere will be looking forward to witnessing Dhoni and Raina back in action since both of them announced their retirement from international cricket on August 15. Both players will also be wanting to prove their mettle once again with Dhoni fans in high anticipation to see him take to the field as his last match was the semifinal loss to New Zealand during the 2019 ODI World Cup.
According to reports, veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh will not be boarding the flight to the UAE with the CSK squad on Friday, due to personal reasons and will instead join the team in two weeks' time.
