A day after an explosion of seismic proportions rocked Lebanon's capital, Beirut, on Tuesday, a massive fire in Ajman, United Arab Emirates (UAE), left many shocked. The blaze had engulfed a market in the new industrial area of Ajman at around 6:30PM local time on Wednesday, with videos shared on social media by several people showing harrowing and tense scenes.

Videos showed the fire raging on and eventually forming a thick black cloud over the city. Although the cause of the fire hasn't been identified, the civil defence teams were quick to respond and rushed to the spot along with fire engines to extinguish the fire.

An official of the Ajman Civil Defence told Khaleej Times that the firefighters managed to douse the fire by 9PM local time, with cooling operations then followed. "Ajman firefighters have cordoned off the site and used water and foam in extinguishing the blazes which have broken out in many shops therein," officials told Khaleej Times. "Four civil defence centres are involved in fighting the big inferno,", they added. The big news to come out of the incident was that no deaths or injuries were reported, with officials managing to bring things back under control, the head of Ajman police said. Crews from Dubai, Sharjah, and Umm Al Quwain were assisting local emergency services, The National reported.

Ajman is a half-hour drive to Dubai and is also another major commercial hub in the UAE. The incident left many shocked as it was the second incident a day after the devastating explosion at a warehouse near the Beirut port in Lebanon, which killed 135 people and left over 5,000 injured.

One individual, who shared a video of the huge fire at the Ajman market tweeted, "A massive fire broke out in the market of Ajman area in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) . which is some 50 km away from #Dubai What is happening .. when this 2020 will end".
