It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! Today, the numbers have overtaken the last couple of days' to give Tamil Nadu the biggest ever single day spike so far with the number of new cases nearing 7000 and the single day recoveries have crossed 7000 for the first time! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 6988 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 206,737! Of these, 1329 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 93,537! Madurai has recorded 301 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 9595, while 1999 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 11764 total cases of which 2755 are currently active and Tiruvallur has recorded a total of 11395 cases with 3823 of them being currently active. Chengalpattu alone has recorded 449 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Kancheepuram registered 442 new cases and Thiruvallur has recorded 385 new cases!

There have been 89 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 3409. This has now become the most number of deaths registered in a single day! As of now, Chennai is the biggest hotspot in the state and has 93,537 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 52,273 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 13,923! The number of recoveries has seen a very good increase over the last few days and today marks the highest number of recoveries for a single day, so far! There have been a massive 7758 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 151,055. There have been 64,315 samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 2,287,334 tests, which continues to remain the highest for any state in our country!
