Robbers loot truck carrying mobiles worth Rs. 15 Crores!

Just as everybody is slowly trying to get back to normalcy after the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic, it looks like robbers and thieves too are getting back to their regular ways! In a major robbery, a gang of thieves are said to have attacked a truck carrying Rs. 15 Crores worth of mobile phones and made off with the entire cargo! This incident is said to have happened near Krishnagiri, on a truck carrying Redmi mobile phones from Chennai to Mumbai! Report state that the robbery gang attacked the truck and hijacked it and later disposed of the truck, after transferring all the cargo to another vehicle! An officer from the Soolagiri Police station is said to have revealed that there were about 14,500 mobile phones in the cargo of the truck.
Reports state that the mobile phones were being transferred from a Redmi manufacturing unit at Poonamallee near Chennai, to Mumbai, by DHL Express. Media reports state that the miscreants were in a car and they intercepted the truck near Melumalai, which is located between Soolagiri and Krishnagiri, on the Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway. The incident is said to have happened around 2:00 am! The gang is said to have attacked the driver and cleaner of the vehicle before tying them both up with ropes and leaving them along the side of the road and making off the truck full of cargo. Further reports state that after driving further for about 15 kilometers, the gang transferred all the contents of the stolen truck to a different vehicle and abandoned the DHL Express vehicle there itself, before escaping from the place.
The Salem range DIG of Police - Pradeep Kumar has reportedly told the media that 17 special teams have been formed to investigate and nab the culprits at the earliest. It is also believed that as of now, the Police have no clue about the gang. A case has now been registered with the Soolagiri Police who will be handling the investigations. There was a similar such incident in Nagari region of Andhra Pradesh, before the nation-wide lockdown was imposed due to the Corona Virus Pandemic! The Police investigated for about a month before nabbing a gang from Madhya Pradesh and eventually recovering a major part of the stolen mobiles. Stay tuned for updates...
