After a lot of uncertainty, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to get underway in UAE, from September 19th! Amidst all the gloominess brought on by the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic, the IPL will bring a much needed dimension of relief for sports fans in general and cricket fans in particular! The IPL is considered the most widely watched T20 league in the world, mainly because of all the world-class players and the intense rivalries. One of the most popular franchises in the IPL is the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team, which is the only team to have entered the playoffs in every single edition it has been a part of. However, the CSK team's path to this IPL has not been smooth!

As soon as the CSK squad landed in the UAE, they underwent COVID tests and the results were shocking with 13 members including a prominent bowler and batsman, testing positive for the Corona Virus. Almost soon afterwards, CSK's star player and vice-captain Suresh Raina made a sudden departure back to India, amidst a lot of speculations. Then it came to light that veteran bowler Harbhajan Singh would not be playing in this year's edition, due to some personal issues. The entire team almost seemed to be in disarray but things slowly began falling into place. Bowler Deepak Chahar recovered from COVID and rejoined the squad. The entire squad was permitted to begin training last Friday and have been going hard at it, ever since!

Earlier today, a video was posted on the Chennai Super Kings official Twitter handle. This video of the CSK team training, has reinforced a lot of hope for the team's fans! Thala MS Dhoni, the CSK captain, seemed to be in explosive form. He was seen taking on the bowlers at the nets with full vigour and blasting the balls over the boundary! Similarly, opening batsman Shane Watson also seemed to be in very good nick, as he too displayed an attractive array of strokes! It is yet to be known who would be replacing Suresh Raina in the CSK team or if he himself would return to the UAE and play in this season. However, CSK fans can rest assured, the Boys in Yellow will be giving it their all right from the moment they take the field against staunch rivals Mumbai Indians, in the IPL's first match on September 19th!
