One of the biggest and most popular cricketing superstars in the world, MS Dhoni has always chosen to maintain a low profile when it comes to social media. A not-so active social media user, Dhoni last used his Twitter account on February 14 earlier this year, which was also the same day when he last posted a picture on his Instagram profile. However, the former Indian cricket team captain made a rare appearance in a video, which shared on his Indian Premier League (IPL) team, Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) social media handles, instantly went on to trend online nationwide.

CSK shared the video on their social media platforms with the caption, "The much needed pawsitivity at 7! #Thala @msdhoni #WhistlePodu,". Dhoni can be seen in an all new look and waving towards the screen, in what appears to be during a video call. Within minutes of the video being posted by CSK, their social media handles were flooded with comments about his new look while many others expressed their hope to witness him back in action on the field soon.

Dhoni's ardent fans have had to miss watching him on the field since his last competitive match, which was in July last year. Although he was supposed to take charge once again for the CSK in this year's IPL, the sporting tournament has been postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) postponed the IPL initially planned to be held in April-May as played every year over the past twelve editions. Since its postponement, the possibility of the tournament being conducted this year has still not been completely dismissed.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly recently said he hopes for the IPL to be held in India this year once the COVID-19 situation around the country takes a better turn. Ganguly during an interview said, "We don't want the year 2020 to finish without an IPL. Our first priority is India and even if we get 35 to 40 days, we will host it. But we don't know where...,". He added, "It is a very important tournament for India. Our target is to host it in India across four-five venues. If not, then having it overseas is an option,".
