IPL 2020 has been different from all previous editions of the tournament, for a number of reasons! For one, the tournament started very late, after a lot of speculation over whether it would happen or not! It is being played behind closed doors, with no spectators on the ground! And above all, for the first time ever, CSK have been on the bottom of the table, since the inception of the tournament! Kieron Pollard turned up to the toss as the stand-in captain for MI, in place of Rohit Sharma and won the toss and asked CSK to bat first! Saurabh Tiwary replaced Sharma at MI while CSK dropped Watson, Piyush Chawla and Kedhar Jadhav in place of youngsters Ruturaj Gaikwad & N Jagadeesan, along with last year's Purple Cap holder Imran Tahir! CSK had a disastrous start to their innings and kept losing wickets one after the other. The slide started in the first over itself, when Trent Bout trapped Gaikwad LBW off the 5th ball of his 1st over. However, the umpire ruled Not Out and MI reviewed!

They got their review right and Gaikwad returned to the dugout for another duck. MI had started off with a Wicket Maiden over. Bumrah came in and removed Rayudu and Jagadeesan off consecutive balls leaving CSK on 3/3 at the end of the 2nd over. Boult removed Faf du Plessis in the next over and CSK were 5/4. Dhoni and Jadeja showed some intent against Bumrah in the 4th over and racked up 13 runs. However, this was short-lived as Jadeja was picked out by Boult, bringing Sam Curran to the crease. Dhoni crunched a massive 6 off Rahul Chahar's bowling, before the bowler got back and removed him the very next ball, to a sharp catch by Quinton de Kock! Curran tried to keep his end up but his partners were not helping as Deepak Chahar fell to his cousin Rahul, being stumped by QDK! By the end of the 9th over, CSK were poised on a worrying score of 44/7! Thakur gave Curran some support as the allrounder stayed positive and took CSK to a spoprting score of 114/9 off their 20 overs, scoring a blistering half-century along the way!

CSK needed some magic by their bowlers to even have a chance of competing in this game. Two left-handers Ishan Kishan and Quinton de Kock came out to open for MI. Deepak Chahar found some amazing swing in the first over but still got put away for a couple of fours. Josh Hazlewood bowled some wayward deliveries and was also punished with a couple of boundaries! The openers got comfortable as there was no more swing on offer even from the 3rd over itself! Of the 2 batsmen, Ishan Kishan was the aggressor and went out and played strokes all along the ground! By the end of the Powerplay, MI were sitting comfortably on 52/0! Change in bowling did not help CSK in any way, as even Thakur was treated with the same disdain as Chahar and Hazlewood. Even Imran Tahir was sent to the cleaners. Jadeja came on to try his hand and was give the same treatment that Axar Patel dished out to him, in the last match at the same ground! His solitary over went for 15 runs with Kishan getting to a comfortable 50. It was all over for CSK by the 2nd ball of the 13th over as MI handed them their first ever 10-wicket defeat in the history of the IPL. This is also the first time ever that CSK will not be playing in the Playoffs! This win also marked Kieron Pollard's 15th consecutive victory as a Captain. Trent Boult was selected as the Player of the Match for his fiery spell which got him 4 wickets! MI are currently sitting pretty on the top of the Points Table!
