IPL 2020: CSK players and support staff test COVID-19 negative, Training likely from September 4

Chennai Super Kings CEO KS Viswanathan on Tuesday told that all 13 members of the contingent, who were found to be positive for the novel coronavirus last week, have now tested negative in the latest tests conducted by the Indian Premier League Medical Team on Monday. Mr Viswanathan further told news agency Press Trust of India (PTI) that the squad's preparations for IPL 2020 will most likely begin from September 4. Among the 13 who tested positive for COVID-19 were India seamer Deepak Chahar and India A batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad and, are currently placed in a 14-day quarantine.
Speaking from Dubai where the CSK camp is based right now, Mr Viswanathan said, "Yes, all 13 members have tested negative for COVID-19. They will have to undergo another test on Thursday, September 3. We are likely to start training on Friday, September 4." He added, "Deepak and Ruturaj will complete their 14-day quarantine and then join training after two negative tests as per protocol,".
Ever since the Chennai Super Kings squad landed in Dubai for IPL 2020, there has been quite a lot of debate and controversy surrounding the team. The past few days have seen not only the members of the squad testing positive for COVID-19, but a considerable amount of discussion popped up among fans after the sudden exit of star batsman Suresh Raina from the tournament for "personal reasons".
The cash-rich 53-day IPL 2020 is scheduled to be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in three venues - Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah - from September 19 to November 10. All sights are now set on the organizers of the tournament to release the schedule, which fans have been waiting for quite some time. BCCI has been viewing the COVID-19 situation among the teams participating in IPL 2020 keenly. With the CSK contingent now testing negative as per their latest reports, we can expect an announcement very soon.
