Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Monday announced that the SSC exams for the year 2020 have been cancelled with the promotion of all the class 10 students to be done based on the marks secured in the internals. The Telangana government has also said the previous grades of students too will be taken into consideration. So far, the Telangana Secondary Board of Examinations (TSBIE) has conducted three exams in two subjects out of the eleven exams in six subjects.

The decision to cancel the SSC exams in the state comes after the Telangana High Court had directed the government earlier to postpone it owing to the sharp rise in the number of coronavirus cases. Keeping in mind the safety and welfare of Telangana's 5,34,903 class X students, the authorities have taken the decision to skip holding this year's SSC exams altogether and instead allow them to be promoted based on their internals and previous grades.
