All the nations of the world are battling the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic and the Governments are at a loss to find ways to control this. Though self isolation has been advised to all the people and social distancing & curfew are in effect, there are people who violate these norms and also the ones who had been affected prior to these measures have also not been identified completely. Testing is happening at a rapid pace but most of the countries are not equipped to handle the effects of this outbreak. Sri Lanka is one of the countries that has also been severely hit by the Virus and their President Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, had issued a plea for help. He had requested the World Health Organization's (WHO) Director General for financial aid and had also appealed to India for medical aid!
The Indian Government responded to Rajapaksa's plea and sent a chartered flight containing medicines, for Sri Lanka. Upon this flight's arrival with the medicines, Mr. Rajapaksa has taken to his Twitter handle to thank the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and all the Indian people, for their timely help during this crisis. The medicines were sent to Sri Lanka on an Air India Airbus A321 with the message, "A gift from the people and Government of India to the people and Government of Sri Lanka in this hour of need." This is indeed a very touching humanitarian gesture and only such unity and humanity would help humankind overcome these testing times.
