Reels is the latest feature to be introduced on Instagram by Facebook in a few countries namely Brazil, France, Germany, and has now made its arrival in India as well. Many have been stating that the introduction of Reels in India couldn't have come at a better time considering the Central government had recently banned the Chinese video-sharing social networking app, TikTok, which enjoyed a massive subscriber base.

It has been announced that Reels will be made available for Indian users on Friday starting 7:30PM. The latest Instagram feature will be rolled out to each and every user in India in the days ahead based on the response it receives in its initial test run. Since this is going to be a test, not all users around the country will receive the update.

TikTok's ban has led to short video apps such as Chingari, Mitron, Roposo, Sharechat, among others gaining massive popularity and millions of users around the country. With TikTok banned, Facebook plans to lure over 200 million users from the Chinese app to start making use of their newly-launched Reels feature.

Reels comes integrated within Instagram and is not a separate app like TikTok. As a result, millions of Indians, who are already using Instagram, will now get to try Facebook's latest feature.

Instagram users are advised to go to Google Play store and App store to check whether they have received an update. In case an update is available, connect the phone to WiFi and install the update.

Open Instagram camera once the app has been updated.

Reels will be made available to users right next to other Instagram features such as Boomerang, Superzoom, hands-free, and layout.

Reels option should be clicked and audio from the Instagram Music library should be selected. Reputed music and audio labels are collaborating with Facebook and are providing a large song collection, which will enable users to create interesting reels as per their tastes and preferences.

Reels will also include an option to record original voice apart from lip syncing and will be similar to TikTok.

Users also get to add AR effects with Reels also offering options to edit videos such as Timer and Speed before they share. The feature also allows users to re-record a video and also delete, in case it is necessary.

Once a user creates a Reel, it can be shared on the Feed and Explore so their followers or everyone can view it on Instagram.

Instagram users who have a public account will be able to share Reels on Explore, which will allow their Reel to be viewed by a wider audience on the app. Those who hold a private account will be able to share their Reel to Feed with their followers or as Stories or DM.
