The film features fan-favorite talent both in front of and behind the camera. Produced and co-written by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and starring Shamiek Moore, Jake Johnson, Hailee Steinfeld, Nicolas Cage, and Liev Schreiber. Into the Spider-Verse introduces a Spidey for a new generation.
Let's have a look at the Spiderman Films over the years
For an entire Generation of Marvel fans, this was the first film that introduces the character in the big screen. This film did just as much for the hero as it did for the superhero genre. Sony had picked up Sam Raimi to helm the project and it paid off with a huge success. The spider-man film made its trio of leads - Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, and James Franco starred in the same way that the Harry Potter movies had elevated the careers of Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson. It was a major turning point in the history of film - it set box office records upon release and garnered critical acclaim. Importantly, Spider-Man earned for an entire genre the respect that it had sorely missed for many years.
Spiderman 2 (2004)
For the second installment, Raimi had delivered what many fans believe is the best superhero film to date. Spider-Man 2 had all the elements that made the first film so special - the irreverent tone, the flashy special effects, and the central relationship between the characters took it to another level. It's one such film that is still remembered for its fantastic set pieces as it is for it is direction and its deadly portrayal of the villain.
Doc Ock played by Alfred Molina is still the most loved Villan in the Spiderman series. To this day very few superhero films have been able to achieve the sweet spot of balancing action and a gripping story. For this special reason, Spiderman 2 remains the best film that showed the character in the best way.
This 2007 film is was considered the biggest mishap of the series. This was the final installment in the series directed by Sam Raimi, the film had too many characters, a weak script and holds the distinction of being the most embarrassing Spiderman film in cinematic history, especially that scene where Peter Parker does a jazz dance on the streets on the streets of NYC.
Even though the film had shown Venom, Sand Man and Green Goblin, Sam had accepted that he had messed up plenty in Spier Man -3. The film however collected 89.09 crores in the box office collections.
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
This was considered to be the laziest Spiderman movie by many die-hard fans of the Superhero even tough the film had shown an entirely new spiderman the film wasn't accepted well by most of the fans. Many believe it was a spiderman film that came too soon even though the film was released after a gap of 6 years after Spiderman 3. Many were still in the feeling of the previous film. Mark Webb had created a new Peter Parker and a different version of Raimi's trilogy. Andrew Garfield remains the best actor to have played Peter Parker but the same can't be said for his performance as Spider-Man.
The Amazing Spiderman-2
The Second installment in the series directed by Mark Webb this was a derailed film and even its spectacular breathtaking visuals couldn't save the film. It was hastily made, too clustered by setting up future sequels to focus on the story. It was overpopulated with many subplots juggling for space and featured a categorically loony performance by Jamie Fox as Electro, which didn't gel with the story at all.
The main highlight of the film was the relationship between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, and whatever little emotional impact it had created was all due to the bond formed with Peter and Gwen. The fans could sense director Marc Webb struggling to maintain control over his film.
Spiderman: Homecoming (2017)
Spiderman Homecoming was the first Solo Film to star Tom Holland to play the title role- the film represents the essence of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's Pleasing and lighthearted tone was a departure from the MCU's increasing hefty stakes, however, this film's feel was rather forgettable.
Even Robert Downey Junior's cameo appearances as Iron Man was a very stale performance. The Film had barely any recall value to Holland’s first solo outing, which isn’t to say that it’s a bad film. It’s simply a Marvel film.
Fans have to wait and see what Spiderman into the Spider-verse will offer to us and how it will cement itself into the hearts of the Marvel fans.
