The Pa Ranjith directorial Kabali saw Rajini pairing up with acclaimed actress Radhika Apte, who has earned for herself quite a name as a wonderful performer, across languages! Now, Radhika Apte is hitting the headlines for having signed up to star in the series Shantaram by Apple.

This series also stars Charlie Hunnam of Pacific Rim & King Arthur: Legend of the Sword fame and Richard Roxburgh of Moulin Rouge! fame. This series is said to be made over 10 episodes and will be based on the book of the same name, written by Gregory David Roberts. The book was a bestseller with over 6 million copies being sold. It is based on an Australian prisoner who escapes to Mumbai to get himself off the grid and away from the notice of the authorities. Charlie Hunnam will be playing the role of Lin, an escaped convict, while Australian actor Richard Roxburgh will play the role of an Australian Police detective who arrives in Mumbai to track Lin.

Radhika Apte is said to be playing the role of a relentless Indian journalist, going by the name of Kavita. Assasin's Creed director Justin Kurzel will be directing the first two episodes of the 10-part series. Production of this series is set to happen from October, in India & Australia. Another interesting bit if information is that the Australian Government has provided a $5 million tax incentive for this project!
