Hollywood movie The Avengers, which was released in India last month, is doing wonders at the box office. But, this American super hero film has irked some of the Indian stars, for India’s depiction in the film. The film portrays one of the characters of the film hiding in a filthy Kolkata slum, to help the lepers. Though Kolkata has a rich cultural heritage, director Joss Whedon has only shown the Kolkata slums in the film.

Actress Nidhi Subbaiah, who was upset with the slum scenes of the film, posted her views on her microblogging page. “Saw the avengers yesterday! Great movie, robert downey jr is somethin else! What bothered me was the 4 minute clip of the hulk in calcutta!” she tweeted. “It seemed to be a confused mix of a poverty stricken war ravaged third world country! For all the research that they do in Hollywood,” she added. “1 of d most powerful emerging economies of the world- India, cannot be projected as a land of snake charmers n elephants each n every time!” she further added.
