The Indian government has been taking steps to bring back stranded Indians from other countries back to their natives. The worldwide lockdown due to the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic, has caused many people of different nationalities to become stranded in various other places where they had travelled to for work, or tourism or for studies! The COVID Pandemic caused all countries to close their borders and suspend travel to or from other countries. The Central Government had recently announced that it would charter unscheduled commercial flights and use naval ships to help repatriate Indian citizens from other countries. Quite a few flights and ships have been bringing back stranded Indians from other nations and the latest information we have is that an Air India flight has taken off with 158 Indians from Dhaka!

The Indian High Commission in Bangaladesh has put out a tweet giving this information. The tweet reads that an Air India flight with 158 Indian passengers has taken off from Dhaka in Bangladesh, as part of the Vande Bharat Mission. This flight was scheduled to be landing in Chennai, today evening! The repatriation work began on May 7 and the first phase is expected to go on till May 17th, by which time the majority of Indians stuck abroad, are expected to have returned! The Ministry of External Affairs and the Central Government have been taking a lot of steps to ensure the safe return home of our citizens and these efforts should be lauded!
