There have been some mixed reactions to the recent availability of the vaccines againsr the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus, which has been devastating the world for almost a year now. A number of vaccine candidates have been approved for use against COVID and even mass vaccination has begun in countries like Russia, Britain and the US. However, all the vaccination is being carried out in the Western world, using the vaccine developed by Pfizer-BioNTech while the vaccination in Russia is being carried out with the Sputnik V vaccine developed by the Gamaleya Institute and the Russian Direct Investment Fund. Now, the USA has added a second vaccine in their fight against the deadly Virus!

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorised an emergency rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Moderna Inc. and the National Institutes of Health. This makes the USA, the first cuntry in the world to authorise the use of the Moderna COVID vaccine. This Moderna vaccine has been developed in a process similar to the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, called the mRNA technique! Talking about this development, the US President Donald Trump stated, "Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine 'overwhelmingly approved', distribution to start soon." Talking to the Press, the NIH's Director, Dr. Francis Collings said, "The two work better we almost dared to hope. Science is working here, science has done something amazing."

He added, "Early results of large still unfinished studies show both vaccines appear safe and strongly protective although Moderna's is easier to handle since it doesn't need to be stored at ultra-frozen temperatures." The deadly COVID has already claimed over 1.7 million lives across the world and about 312,000 lives in the US alone. However, in recent times, the daily number of new infections across the USA have been very high in recent times and are only expected to increase with the impending holiday season. The recently started vaccination drive is expected to be the largest in the history of the USA and all efforts are only expected to be ramped up.
