In what has been unprecedented for most of the people of the world, the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic took over our lives suddenly! Almost all the countries of the world went into lockdown mode to control the spread of this deadly virus and it is only now, after more than a 100 days, that the lockdown is being relaxed in some places and travel between countries has been allowed again! India, which emerged as one of the frontrunners in the world, in fighting the Corona Virus, is currently ranked No. 3 among the countries most affected by the Corona Virus, in the world! India is only behind the USA and Brazil, in the number of people infected by this deadly virus!

After the number of cases seemed to be coming under control, there has been a massive surge in the numbers, over the past couple of days! This lead to a number of social media reports alleging that Community Transmission of the COVID Virus having started in our country! Many of these social media posts also added reports, that seemed to be given out by the Indian Medical Association! However, today the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has rubbished all these reports of Community Transmission having started in India. The official statement reveals that none of the reports of Community Transmission having started in India, have been issued by official IMA headquarters! The statement went on to say, "It is for the official agencies to ascertain at this stage in the natural history of the epidemic. Crowd sourcing data cannot replace authentic data!"

The IMA has reiterated that all presumptions in this regard should be considered a matter of personal opinion and not official data. The statement further went on to state, "IMA is confident that the public health authorities and the medical fraternity are fully engaged and prepared in containing the fallout!" This statement also revealed that the COVID clusters are concentrated in urban metros and not in the countrysides. This official statement from the IMA comes shortly after the news agency ANI quoted Dr. VK Monga, Chairman of IMA Hospital Board of India as saying, "This is now an exponential growth. Everyday the number of cases is increasing by more than 30,000 and this is a really bad situation for the country. There are many factors connected to it but overall, this is now spreading to rural areas and it is a bad sign. It now shows a community spread!"
