It looks like we are finally getting to see some light at the end of the tunnel of this ongoing COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic. Though Russia rushed to claim that it had registered two vaccines against the Corona Virus, it did not find much support from the medical fraternity from the rest of the world, as both their vaccines had not cleared the all-important Phase 3 clinical trials! However, a number of other vaccines, which are nearing the end of their respective Phase 3 clinical trials, have been showing a lot of promise. The COVID vaccine candidates of both Pfizer and Moderna have given very high hopes with their efficacy numbers touching 95%!

Just a couple of days back, it was announced that India's own indigenous COVID vaccine- Covaxin, being jointly developed by the Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech and the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), had moved into the Phase 3 clinical trials stage. This event was also hailed as India's largest ever efficacy trials for a vaccine. The trials are happening across 25 centres in India and the successful completion of these trials would mean that India is on par with the world nations in developing our own vaccine for the deadly Corona Virus. Now, a very heartening incident has happened, with respect to the trust behind Covaxin!

Latest reports reveal that the Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij has himself come forward to volunteer for the clinical trials of Covaxin. Reportedly, he has been injected with a trial dose of Covaxin at the Civil Hospital at Ambala Cantontment. Earlier, Anil Vij had volunteered to be the first participant in the Phase 3 trials, which kicked off today. The 67-year-old minister was administered the shot under the supervision of a team of doctors from PGI Rohtak and the Health Department of Haryana. This Phase 3 trials of  Covaxin would involve 26,000 volunteers from across India. Stay tuned for updates...
