Few months back, we had reported there were plans for a Telugu remake of ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay’s 2016 blockbuster, Theri, directed by Atlee.

It was being stated Telugu superstar Ravi Teja was in talks to star in Vijay’s role as the swashbuckling cop, Vijayakumar, under the direction of Santhosh Srinivas, the man behind films namely Kandireega, Rabhasa and Hyper.

To be produced under the Mythri Movie Makers banner, it is now reported the Telugu remake of Theri will roll into production from September once Ravi Teja wraps up filming on his upcoming film, Amar Akbar Anthony.

Although no other cast and crew details have been announced, composer Devi Sri Prasad is said to be scoring the music.

It must be noted Theri turned out to become one of the biggest box office successes for Vijay allowing to cement his action superstar image furthermore.
