Television has played a vital role in all our lives. It is something that we have grown up with and continue using to this day. Well, today (November 21) is World Television Day and the main purpose to celebrate this day is to recognize the impact and influence of television in our life. Television not only provides infotainment but also helps in increasing knowledge. Here in India, we consume so much television that some shows have left a lasting impact on us. Let us look at some of these TV shows that changed our lives:

1) FRIENDS:

This 90's sitcom, based in Manhattan, is about 6 friends (Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Joey and Phoebe) who go through just about every life experience imaginable together; love, marriage, divorce, children, heartbreaks, fights, new jobs, and job losses and all sorts of drama. It is loved by the audience for how funny it is and due to how relatable it is.

2) TOM AND JERRY:

Tom and Jerry is a cartoon series about a hapless cat's never-ending pursuit of a clever mouse. Tom is the scheming cat, and Jerry is the spunky mouse. The series was driven entirely by action and visual humor; the characters almost never spoke. The show is very well received by audiences of all ages for its engaging and entertaining content.

3) BIGG BOSS (Tamil):

Hosted by Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, Bigg Boss Tamil is a reality show based on the original Dutch Big Brother. Contestants are placed in a specially built house for 100 days where they are cut off from the outside world and must perform tasks to stay in the house. They are eliminated based on the audience's votes who watch them live. Contestants are overseen by a mysterious person known as Bigg Boss, whose only presence in the house is through his voice. The show is popular among the masses for all the drama the show has to offer.

4) POWER RANGERS:

Each of the Power Rangers seasons centers around a group of people that gain superpowers to fight various villains, ranging from demons to witches to aliens. To activate these powers, these characters, known in general as the Power Rangers, morph by reciting a morphing call. Teenagers love it for its action-packed sequences.

5) COOK WITH COMALI:

Cook with Comali is a cooking show where the contestants are paired each week with comedians (comalis) who are amateur cooks. The show provides great laughs and has silly moments that are well-received by the target audience.

6) JACKIE CHAN ADVENTURES:

Jackie Chan and his extended family must fight a criminal organization for magic talismans scattered across the world, in order to stop a criminal organization known as the Dark Hand from using them to revive an ancient demon sorcerer, Shendu. The show is filled with action and comedy and therefore works very well with the younger viewers.

7) POKEMON:

Joined by his partner Pokémon Pikachu and a rotating cast of human characters, Ash Ketchum goes on a journey to become a Pokémon Master, traveling through the various regions of the Pokémon world and competing in various Pokémon-battling tournaments known as the Pokémon League. With all the various Pokémon, engaging storyline and amazing battle sequences, the show has found a way into the hearts of people.

8) JODI NO.1:

Jodi No. 1 is a reality dance show featuring celebrity couples who duke it out to win the competition. The show was well received as it was an entertaining watch for all its dances and fancy moves.

9) MR. BEAN:

A comedy show of ingenuity and very little brain power, Mr. Bean is about a man with a childlike nature. When faced with life's problems, he'll always be sure to come up with something inventive to assist him. For its comedic value and inventiveness, the show was very much loved by people of all ages.
