Leading Tamil actor-producer Vishal confirmed on Friday that his next big film as a police officer, Laththi, will be out in cinemas as a grand Christmas release on December 22. Billed to be an intense and action-packed venture, the upcoming film is the fourth time the actor will be seen donning the khakhi on the big screen after playing the role of a cop in films like Satyam (2008), Ayogya (2019), and Veeramae Vaagai Soodum, which came out in February this year. A special release date poster has also been unveiled for Laththi showing Vishal in action mode along with the announcement that the film will be out for the Christmas holidays. Check out the Laththi release date announcement below:

Directed by debutant A. Vinoth Kumar under actors Ramana and Nandha's RaNa Productions banner, Laththi has generated plenty of buzz, especially a video showing Vishal getting injured during filming going viral. Vishal and the film's action choreographer Peter Hein along with several junior artistes and fight coordinators were seen in the video working on the Laththi climax scene, which the actor later revealed were the most he had sustained during his 17-year career in Tamil cinema. Announced to come out in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi languages, an action-packed teaser of the film was also released a few months back to a rousing response from fans, which showed Vishal going up against hundreds of goons in a high-rise apartment still under construction. The Laththi teaser emphasized the action sequence in the building, which seems to be the biggest highlight of the film, and it now remains to be seen what the team has cooked up for fans when it arrives in cinemas this Christmas.

Laththi has Vishal paired with Sunaina for the second time after their Samar in 2013, with the film's star cast also featuring veteran actor Prabhu in a pivotal role. The film also marks the twelfth time Vishal and chart-buster composer Yuvan Shankar Raja have collaborated after the duo previously worked together in films like Sandakozhi, Thimiru, Thamirabarani, Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai, Avan Ivan, Poojai, Irumbu Thirai, Sandakozhi 2, Chakra, and Veeramae Vaagai Soodum, with fans now looking forward to what they have come up with next.
