Veteran actress Urvashi, who has mostly appeared in Malayalam and Tamil films, has been a prominent name in the South Indian film industry for more than four decades and recently delivered impressive performances in Suriya's Soorarai Pottru and RJ Balaji's Mookuthi Amman starring Nayanthara. She will next be seen in the Tamil remake of Badhaai Ho, reportedly titled Veetla Visheshanga, which as well has been directed by RJ Balaji. Having said that, tragedy has now struck as Urvashi’s sister-in-law Pramila has died by suicide in Villupuram.

Pramila, 52, was previously married to Urvashi's brother Kamal but separated and parted ways a few years back. She was living with her brother Suseenthiran (54) and the two were pushed into poverty due to their illnesses and health conditions. Reports state that Pramila was provided financial assistance by Urvashi's sister Kalpana till her death. However, the family had no other means for survival after Kalpana's death in 2016. It is being stated that a bad odor had been emanating from Pramila and Suseenthiran's house after which their neighbors informed the police, who found their decomposed bodies hanging from the ceiling. A suicide note was also found in which the siblings had mentioned that the reason for their drastic step is due to illness and poverty, and did not blame anyone. They further stated in their note that they have rental dues and requested that their belongings in the house be sold and the amount be paid to their homeowner. Although they requested their bodies not be subjected to postmortem formalities, the authorities have done so adhering to the law.
