National Award-winning Tamil actor Suriya's next big film, the tentatively titled Suriya 42, being directed by Siva is jointly being produced by K. E. Gnanavelraja's Studio Green and Vamsi-Pramod's UV Creations banners. The highly-anticipated film has been announced to come out in 10 languages and also marks Bollywood sensation Disha Patani's Tamil cinema debut, with chart-buster music director Devi Sri Prasad composing the songs and the background score. With production on Suriya 42 progressing at a steady pace, producer Gnanavelraja sat down for an exclusive interview with Galatta to talk about the film, while also opening up on the budget and the pre-release business.

Speaking about how he got the belief to make Suriya 42 a reality, K. E. Gnanavelraja said, "The subject of the film gave me big conviction. This applies even to the director. Not only for me or Suriya, even the director... the minute we heard that this is the subject, we decided to proceed. It's something that Suriya sir has not done before." Delving into the trade aspects of Suriya 42, the hit producer further stated, "This project has three times the highest budget among the films Suriya has done through the course of his career. It has also done twice the business compared to his previous biggest ventures. We started the project by taking a risk, but in today's scenario, if you do regular commercial cinema, it doesn't have a value in the eyes of the public. You have to entertain them in a larger way since everyone has seen the KGF films from the Kannada industry, Baahubali and RRR in Telugu, and is why we decided to do a challenging content and present it in such a grand scale. As of now, the Tamil film industry is the answer to Baahubali and KGF. And, that is why we're being very calculative in making sure no stills or any news gets leaked outside."
