The Democratic Youth Federation of India launched a campaign to get 1 crore signatures against drug addiction on 12th February. Freedom Fighter and senior CPM veteran Shankariah signed the campaign first. Following it's launch the federation has been getting many people to sign the petition for a Tamil Nadu with no drugs. Recently, one of the top-tier actors of Tamil film industry 'Superstar' Rajinikanth signed the campaign. Members of DYFI met the sough-after actor in person and got his signature as one crore signatures against drug addiction. The federation shared a picture of Rajinikanth signing the campaign and a photo with the signed document on Twitter. They said the actor had wished them all success for the campaign.

DFYI has been reaching out to public figures like Kamal Haasan, who already signed the campaign, to support their campaign. Producer S.R. Prabhu, singer Deva, actors Vijay Sethupathi, Karthi, Harish Kalyan, Aishwarya Rajesh, Adharvaa, Manikandan, Ramesh Thilak, Samuthirakani, Sarath Kumar, mime Gopi, lyrist Kabilan Vairamuthu, singers Isaivani, Therukural Arivu, director Mari Selvaraj and many others have signed the campaign, according to the tweets of DFYI. The federation has also been reaching out to the public with booths at public places in various cities to get signatures.

During the initial stages of his career, Rajinikanth smoked cigarettes and it was a part of his data-style. But after he was affected by the ill-effects of the addition, the actor tuned 360° and advised fans to quit smoking. He had also spoke about the adversities of his smoking habit in a event recently. The versatile actor Rajinikanth is currently busy shooting for the film Jailer directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The makers of the film have roped in stars from various film industries and has a star cast of Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, Sunil, Tamannaah Batia, Ramya Krishnan, etc
