'Superstar' Rajinikanth has showered praises on filmmaker Mari Selvaraj's latest film, Maamannan, while also extending his compliments to the lead actors Udhayanidhi Stalin, 'Vaigai Puyal' Vadivelu, and Fahadh Faasil in the political thriller. The veteran actor watched the film on Tuesday, July 4, and shared his review late in the evening in Tamil on Twitter writing, "A wonderful work by Mari Selvaraj emphasizing equality. My sincere appreciation to him. My congratulations to Vadivelu, Udhayanidhi, and Fahadh Faasil for their excellent performances."

Mari Selvaraj too expressed his gratitude for Rajinikanth's words of love for Maamannan, while also posting photos of their meeting on social media. Sharing pictures with the iconic Tamil actor on Instagram, the filmmaker wrote, "My heartfelt thanks and greetings to 'Superstar' for watching and appreciating Maamannan." Rajinikanth has often praised filmmakers for their efforts in making films that have created a positive impact and his latest praise for Maamannan is noteworthy as it is basking in critical glory in terms of its story, making, social commentary, performances, music, and so on.

Maamannan has been the talk of the town for its social commentary and its emphasis on the oppressed classes, with Mari Selvaraj once again hitting the high note after his Pariyerum Perumal (2018) and Karnan (2021). Produced under the Red Giant Movies banner, the film is also Udhayanidhi Stalin's final outing as an actor as he will now be diving into politics full-time. It has also now created a new milestone by crossing £40,000 at the UK & Ireland box office as of Tuesday and is his highest-grossing film to date. Maamannan's extended cast namely Vadivelu, Fahadh Faasil, and Keerthy Suresh have also been receiving credit for their impressive performances, with Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman's hit songs and powerful background score elevating the film a notch above.
