Silambarasan TR's next big film, the tentatively titled STR 48, has kicked off pre-production and new photos with iconic actor Kamal Haasan and filmmaker Desingh Periyasamy have now been released on social media. Being produced under the Raaj Kamal Films International banner and R. Mahendran, the upcoming film also called RKFI 56 is billed to be a historical venture and has officially been revealed to roll into production this August. In the latest pictures, we see Simbu alongside Kamal Haasan, who is producing STR 48, with director Desingh Periyasamy of Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal fame also joining the duo.

As of now, not much is known about STR 48 apart from Silambarasan recently undergoing training for martial arts in Thailand, and is said to be taking part in intense workouts now in London. There is a massive buzz surrounding the film as it marks the first time the actor will be seen in a historical venture after an intriguing announcement video was released back in March for the launch of the high-profile project. Simbu has been maintaining his toned physique for his role in STR 48 and fans now look forward to his look in the film after he stunned everybody with his transformation for his roles in Eeswaran and Maanaadu (2021), Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu (2022), and Pathu Thala earlier this year.

STR 48 has been in the news of late after rumors began doing the rounds that names like Bollywood sensation Deepika Padukone and National Award-winning South Indian actor Keerthy Suresh were being considered for the role of the female lead, with Desingh Periyasamy in an interview to a leading daily revealing that no such casting decisions have been made as yet and that the cast and crew are yet to be finalized. Silambarasan will be looking to keep up the momentum for STR 48 after the actor kicked off 2023 on a bang with Pathu Thala, which has gone on to become his career-best opening.
