Well-known actor, director and producer Manobala passed away on Wednesday, 3rd May, due to health issues. He was undergoing treatment for liver-related issues in a private hospital in Chennai and was survived by his wife Usha and son Harish. Many leading public figures, the film fraternity, his friends and fans paid tributes to the actor through social media and expressed condolences. Some actors also visited his house and paid respect to his mortal remains.

The actor Manobala was also a key member of the South Indian Artistes Association. The association has released a statement saying "South Indian actor, Executive committee member of the association, film director, and popular comedian Manobala has died at the age of 69, due to a health issue. He was a simple, fair and kind person. He was fully involved in the South Indian Artistes Association activities. He was there during the good and bad times for the members of the association. He has done hard work and has actively worked for the growth of the association. He contributed Rs. 1 lakh to construct a building for the association and has done anything he can.

The loss of Manobala is irreplaceable for the film industry. South Indian Artistes Association expresses its deepest condolences to those saddened by his demise including his relatives, film fraternity, and fans. We pray may his soul rest in peace.” The head of the association actor Nasser had signed the press release letter. This shows the actor will be missed by his fan and the film fraternity alike for his acting and involvement in the film industry. Many leading actors of the Tamil film industry including Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Vijay and others have paid tributes to the actor through social media. His fans have also shared condolences on social media.
