Sivakarthikeyan's first big film of 2023 will be the highly-anticipated Maaveeran, which is also coming out in Telugu under the title Mahaveerudu. The upcoming film directed by Madonne Ashwin of Mandela fame is touted to be a mass entertainer and has been produced by Arun Viswa's Shanthi Talkies banner and is gearing up for a huge release in cinemas in the months ahead. With production said to be nearing the finish line, the production banner on Wednesday evening, March 8, surprised fans by announcing that the digital rights of Maaveeran/Mahaveerudu have been acquired by leading streaming platform Amazon Prime Video.

Maaveeran is one of the biggest films hitting screens this year and Prime Video's latest announcement no doubt signals the start of the next level of promotions and fans will now be looking to know the theatrical release date soon. This release announcement is the first for the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer, which also includes Aditi Shankar playing the female lead after her powerful debut in Karthi's Viruman in 2022. With Prime Video India and Saregama South announcing that they are the digital and audio partners of Maaveeran, all sights will next be on the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights, which we can expect to be made known soon.

Sivakarthikeyan's Maaveeran created tremendous curiosity when it was launched with an intriguing title announcement video last year, which shot up the excitement almost instantly. The film has music composed by Bharath Sankar and the first single track 'Scene Uh Scene Uh' sung by Anirudh Ravichander released on the occasion of SK's birthday last month has also turned out to be a chart-topping hit. Maaveeran will Sivakarthikeyan and Aditi Shankar sharing screen space with acclaimed filmmaker Mysskin, who is playing the antagonist, while veteran actress Saritha and Yogi Babu are appearing in key roles.
