Leading South Indian actress Shruti Haasan is all set to make her debut on the digital space in the Amazon Prime Video web series, Bestseller, with its intriguing trailer getting released on Tuesday. An eight-episode psychological thriller, the series also stars iconic Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty, with Arjan Bajwa, Gauahar Khan, Satyajeet Dubey, and Sonalee Kulkarni, forming the supporting cast. The Bestseller trailer starts off showing novelist Tahir Wazir (Arjan), who is looking to overcome his writer's block, and meets Meetu Mathur (Shruti), hailing from a small town and is a big fan looking for direction in completing her own story. In an act of desperation to meet the expectations of his publisher, Tahir uses Meetu's story for his own book. The visuals next show Mithun Chakraborty, a police officer, who comes into the picture to investigate the attacks carried out on Tahir and Meetu by a social media troll.

An Amazon Original series, Shruti Haasan's Bestseller will premiere on February 18 and has been directed by Mukul Abhyankar and written by Anvita Dutt and Althea Kaushal under Siddharth Malhotra’s Alchemy Production LLP banner. Speaking about Bestseller, Aparna Purohit, Head of India Originals at Amazon Prime Video, India in a press statement, said, the series is a "fast-paced, gritty psychological thriller that will pull viewers deep into a vortex of flawed human nature and leave them hooked. It’s a complex world where nothing is quite as it seems, and the story gets darker."

Shruti Haasan, who is currently starring alongside Prabhas in the highly-anticipated Kannada-Telugu action thriller Salaar under KGF films fame Prashanth Neel's direction, recently in an interview spoke about how she made space to take up the role in Bestseller. She said, "When Siddharth Malhotra reached out to me for Bestseller, I was working on a number of projects and wasn’t sure if I could make this commitment, but the moment I went through the script, I couldn’t put it down. I was hooked to the layers in the story and found my character so compelling, that I just had to do it."
