Kamal Haasan's Vikram is the latest blockbuster hit in Tamil cinema and the film has been performing exceptionally well at the box office. It has completed three weeks of run in theatres and has entered the fourth week in data-style, but the performance has not subsided, even a bit. The film is inching closer to collecting 400 crores at the box office and we can expect the film to achieve the feat in the next few days. Vikram is an action drama that features Kamal Haasan playing an ex-militant who is on a mission to curb a drug mafia gang in order to create a drug free society.

Vikram is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj who has now become a sensation among the people. Lokesh Kanagaraj has earned a name for himself and has already become one of the prominent and important names in the South Indian film industry. Lokesh Kanagaraj adapted the character of Vikram from Kamal Haasan's yesteryear hit Vikram (1986) and transported that character into the world that he created. There were quite a few interesting references of Vikram (1986) in the latest Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial.

Meanwhile, a clipping of director Venkat Prabhu expressing his interest to direct the sequel of Vikram with Kamal Haasan has surfaced on social media and it has been garnering wide attention. VP has talked about his interest to do Vikram 2 with Kamal Haasan, 10 years back during the popular television show, Koffee with DD. Venkat Prabhu reacted to the clipping with a tweet that read, "Hehehehehe wow!! I think this was ten years ago!! Correct ah @DhivyaDharshini? One of my fav films of @ikamalhaasan saar!!. Well, interesting right?".

Venkat Prabhu is currently busy working on his next film which will star Naga Chaitanya in the lead role. The film will feature Krithi Shetty as the female lead and will have music composed by Isaignaani Ilaiyaraaja and Yuvan Shankar Raja. The shooting of the film is expected to begin soon.
