One show that continues to enjoy a massive fan following around the world even after its story came to an end last year is the smash-hit Netflix Spanish heist crime drama series La casa de papel, which was streamed under the English title, Money Heist. Upon coming to a grand conclusion after five riveting seasons, Netflix announced that a Korean remake of the blockbuster series was in the works, with the global streaming giant surprising fans on Thursday by revealing the launch date. Releasing a short teaser, Netflix announced that the 12-part Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area will premiere on June 24.
The Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area date announcement teaser has given fans a glimpse into the traditional mask that would be worn by the protagonists on the show before the core team of those carrying the operations are revealed in their full glory. The Money Heist Korean adaptation will see actor Yoo Ji Tae playing the role of Professor, followed by Woo Jin (Kim Yunjin), Berlin (Park Hae Soo), Tokyo (Jun Jong Seo), Yun Misun (Lee Joobeen), Moscow (Lee Wonjong), Helsinki (Kim Ji Hoon), Oslo (Lee Kyu Ho), Nairobi (Jang Yoonju) and Rio (Lee Hyunwoo).
Netflix's official synopsis for Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area reads: "Disguised under the shadows of a mask, a crew of desperados band together under the leadership of a criminal mastermind known only as 'The Professor' to pull off the biggest heist Korea has ever seen. Trust the professor. Choose your city name. Don your masks. It’s time." The Korean version of Money Heist has been directed by Kim Hong-sun, who is known for his work on popular TV dramas like The Guest, Voice, and Black, with the series produced jointly by BH Entertainment and Contents Zium.
