Director Mari Selvaraj is known for making trail-blazing films including Pariyerum Perumal and Karnan. The third film of the director is Maamannan starring Udhayanidhi Stalin and 'Vaigai Puyal' Vadivelu in an important roles and was released in theatres worldwide today. Ahead of the release of the film, Galatta Media, known for the organised awe-inspiring events, organised a fans meet for the director. In a special session, video bites from the friends and family members of the director were played. A relative of the director revealed about an unseen perspective of the filmmaker as a dancer in their village.

Talking about this video, Mari Selvaraj said “We are all Vijay fans, and there would be another person who would say we should only dance to Vijay songs". When asked about which Vijay song he would dance to, Maamannan director said he has danced to every Vijay song. He then said "but there is still an emotion in me for Vijay sir." He further said the latest Vijay film that he could watch the first show of was Madurai. He then spoke about an exciting incident that after attending law college entrance exams and was going to watch the first show of Madurai in Thirunelveli but in enthusiasm to see the film he jumped from the bus and landed straight inside a muddy pit and said he was asked to the mud off and then watch the film.

Mari Selvaraj said he has spoken about incident to 'Thalapathy' Vijay too. “I felt very happy to meet Vijay sir and I said about some incident and he was astonished hearing those stories. That fan-boy moment does not go. Actually, I narrated a story to him..”, revealed the Maamannan director When asked about the narration, the director said "when I saw him for real I became a director and narrated a story that I would want to make into film and Vijay sir said 'Enna sir' (What is this?) after hearing the story. Surely we will do a film."
