Malayalam actor, comedian, and television host Subi Suresh passed away on Wednesday, February 22. She was 41. Subi had been undergoing treatment for a liver-related ailment in a private hospital in Kochi, Kerala. Subi's passing has been announced on her social media handles along with her photo, an admin posted: "Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end. See you all again... Thanks." The news of Subi's demise has come as a massive shock for the Malayalam film industry, with several notable celebrities expressing their condolences on social media.

Among the Malayalam entertainment celebrities who have poured their condolences to Subi Suresh, actor Kishor Satya penned an emotional note on Instagram. He wrote, "In such blindfolding games of fate, we are just helpless spectators.... How many days will it take for the art world to recover from this shock and pain... Dear Subi... Goodbye with pain....."

Actress Abhirami Suresh also paid her tribute and said, "You’ll never be gone from our hearts .. Deepest condolences … Subi Chechi …"

Subi Suresh made her debut in the Malayalam entertainment industry in a comedy show titled Cinemala, which aired on Asianet. Her appearances on the show garnered her popularity in quick time as she was one of the few female artistes to pursue comedy, which was predominantly dominated by male stars. Subi also ventured into acting in Malayalam films and made appearances in Elsamma Enna Aankutty, Happy Husbands, Kanakasimhasanam, Karyasthan, Pachakuthira to name a notable few. She is best known among fans after she hosted popular shows like Made for Each Other on Mazhavil Manorama and Kutty Pattalam on Surya TV. Subi became a big name in Malayalam television after hosting Cinemala and the cookery show, Kutty Kalavara, following which she made a comeback with Labour Room.

In 2021, Subi Suresh gained appreciation from fans for her strong response to a social media user, who made sleazy and vulgar comments about her dressing data-style. She said, "I am fed up with such moral policing, Uncles. Thinking he was trying to be famous."
