Leading Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu's next film, the tentatively titled SSMB 28, will have its title announced on May 31. The big reveal will be made by the actor's "super fans" on the big screens in a never before way, prestigious Telugu films production banner Haarika & Hassine Creations has announced. Billed to be a high-octane action entertainer with mass elements, SSMB 28 will mark the third-time collaboration for Mahesh Babu with blockbuster Telugu filmmaker Trivikram Srinivas after a decade when they previously worked in films like Athadu (2005) and Khaleja (2010).

Announced to be released in theatres worldwide as a grand Sankranthi release on January 13, 2024, the SSMB 28 first-look poster gave fans a glimpse into Mahesh Babu's mass avatar. The film was initially planned to open in cinemas back in April but had been postponed due to a delay in the production after the actor's father, legendary Telugu superstar Krisha, passed away last year, with a few other reasons also constituting the hold-up in the shooting. SSMB 28 is currently one of the biggest films in development in Telugu and expectations are high for the actor to go past the success of his last venture, Sarkaru Vaari Paata. Likewise, Trivikram Srinivas too will be coming out firing on all cylinders once again after he hit the high note in his last film, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, starring Allu Arjun, which became a huge success, while also getting a double thumbs-up among Tamil audiences too.

SSMB 28 has Mahesh Babu paired with leading actress Pooja Hegde, while youth sensation Sreeleela is appearing in a key role. Thaman. S is once again composing the songs and the background score for a Mahesh Babu film after Sarkaru Vaari Paata and fans expect him to come out with foot-tapping numbers once again. Post the completion of SSMB 28, Mahesh Babu will kick-start his highly-anticipated project with S. S. Rajamouli, who has garnered international fame after the spectacular success of RRR, with the film said to be a "globe-trotting action adventure" along the lines of the Indiana Jones movies.
