Leading Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu's next big film, the tentatively titled SSMB 28, will be launched in theatres worldwide as a grand Sankranthi release on January 13, 2024, blockbuster production banner Haarika & Hassine Creations has announced. The upcoming film is billed to be a mass and high-octane action entertainer and marks the actor's third collaboration with hit Telugu filmmaker Trivikram Srinivas after more than a decade when they previously worked in Athadu (2005) and Khaleja (2010). Along with the release date for SSMB 28, the makers also unveiled the film's mass first look poster featuring Mahesh Babu smoking a cigarette in grand data-style.

SSMB 28 was initially announced to be released in theatres on April 28 this year, but had to be postponed due to a delay in the production after the actor's father, iconic Telugu actor Krishna passed away last year along with various other reasons. But, the first look of the film and the release date announcement now no doubt puts things into perspective and has reassured fans, who will be looking forward next to the film's production to wrap up without any further delays. SSMB 28 has been a massive project right from the get-go considering Mahesh Babu had been coming fresh of the phenomenal success of his last film, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, while Trivikram hit the bullseye with his family entertainer, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, starring Allu Arjun, which became an all-centre hit, including among Tamil audiences. Below is the SSMB 28 release date announcement:

Mahesh Babu will be seen sharing screen space in SSMB 28 with leading actress Pooja Hegde, who enjoys a massive fan following across India, while youth sensation Sreeleela will be appearing in a pivotal role. Chart-topping composer Thaman. S is once again composing the tracks and the background score for a Mahesh Babu venture and fans expect him to deliver yet another cracker of an album filled with foot-tapping songs. SSMB 28 also has a stellar technical team starting with cinematographer PS Vinod, editor Navin Nooli, and art director AS Prakash, respectively. After the completion of SSMB 28, Mahesh Babu will team up with filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli, who has become a global name after the stunning success of RRR, and their film is said to be a "globe-trotting action adventure" along the lines of the Indiana Jones movies.
