Leading Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj is the man of the hour after the spectacular response to his fourth directorial, Vikram, starring 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan, 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi, and Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil, including Suriya making a crucial cameo. With the action thriller turning out to be Tamil cinema's highest-grossing film of 2022 and also hitting a record number of views on DisneyPlus Hotstar, all sights are now on the blockbuster filmmaker's next venture, which is set to be the tentatively titled Thalapathy 67 starring Vijay in the lead role. As an announcement on Thalapathy 67 is still awaited, Lokesh Kanagaraj participated as the chief guest in a special event organized by the Tamil Movie Journalists Association honoring legendary Tamil filmmaker Bharathiraja on Saturday, July 30.

Speaking to press persons after the event, Lokesh Kanagaraj shared an update about his next film informing that the script work is currently underway after the success of Vikram. Revealing that he has been busy writing the script and the screenplay over the last 10 days, the hit director also stated that an official announcement about the project will be made by the production house soon in the days ahead, and only then can he speak further about it. Lokesh Kanagaraj's latest statement has once again added to the hype, especially among Vijay's fans, who have been looking forward for the duo to once again take the stage after their 2021 box office money-spinner, Master.

For a while now, it has been speculated that blockbuster production-distribution banner Seven Screen Studios, the co-producers of Master, will be bankrolling Thalapathy 67, and an official announcement will only likely put an end to the speculations that have been doing the rounds on social networking forums for quite some time. As for Vijay, the superstar is currently filming Varisu opposite national sensation Rashmika Mandanna under Vamshi Paidipally's direction, which is scheduled to open in theatres worldwide as a grand 2023 Pongal release.
