Chetan Kumar also known as Chetan Kumar Ahimsa is one of the well-known actors in the Kannada film Industry. The actor made his debut with the film Aa Dingalu and went on to do multiple projects including Birugaali, Suryakaanti, Dashamukha, Myna, Noorondu Nenapu, Athiratha, Ranam and Maarga which was released in 2021. The actor is known to be a socio-political activist who has voiced out social concerns and has been a part of many protests against communal policies and government policies. He also raised his voice against the Indian government in the Indian Farmers Protest against Farm Laws.
The actor Chetan Kumar Ahimsa has now been arrested by Bengaluru police on Tuesday for his tweet against Hindutva. He stated in the tweet on Monday that “Hindutva is built on LIES. Savarkar: Indian ‘nation’ began when Rama defeated Ravana & returned to Ayodhya —> a lie. 1992: Babri Masjid is ‘birthplace of Rama’ —> a lie. 2023: Urigowda-Nanjegowda are the ‘killers’ of Tipu —> a lie. Hindutva can be defeated by TRUTH-> truth is EQUALITY” he wrote on social media. The actor also shared the statement in the Kannada language and it became viral".
The complaint was raised by a member of right-wing outfit Bajrang Dal, identified as Shivakumar, who has stated that the tweet hurt his feeling, said reports. The actor was arrested based on the complaint at Sashadripuram police station. Chetan Kumar Ahimsa was under police custody in February for his tweet against a high court justice Krishna Dixit while hearing the hijab case. He was also caught up in a controversy in October after his remarks about the famous festival of Karnataka 'Bhoota Kola', said reports. The actor also has multiple movie projects at hand including 100 crores, a bilingual film in Kannada and Telugu.
