Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 is nearing the finish line and production is expected to come to an end by June end, according to latest reports. Jointly being produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies banners, it is also being stated that the upcoming film directed by ace filmmaker Shankar and featuring music by 'Rockstar' composer Anirudh Ravichander is marching towards a Pongal 2024 pan-India theatrical release, with record offers already on the table for the satellite, digital and audio rights, which are expected to be finalized after the shooting is wrapped.

Production on Indian 2 has been carried out in several places around India, with the team also traveling to countries like South Africa and Taiwan to film key sequences. The film is the sequel to the 1996 blockbuster, Indian, which featured Kamal Haasan in dual roles as father and son, with the latter getting killed in the climax. Ever since Kamal Haasan and Shankar reunited for Indian 2, there has been quite a lot of curiosity regarding how the sequel will pick up from the events of the first film and the promotional material released up until now too has added to the excitement.
